Events SMS Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 7, 2026

I'm Calvin Liang. I host small personal events (barbecues, dinners, and other get togethers) and I use the event pages on calvin.sh to keep guests up to date. This policy explains what I do with the information you give me when you sign up for text invitations and updates about my events. It covers the event pages at calvin.sh/events/ and the text messages sent from them.

This is a personal, invitation only thing. I am not a company, I do not sell anything here, and there is no marketing list.

What I collect

Signing in and getting event texts are two separate things. You give me your number to sign in, and I text you a one time code so I know it's you. That on its own subscribes you to nothing. You only get event updates if you also tick the box on the RSVP form agreeing to them and save it. The box starts unchecked on a new account. This choice applies to invitations and updates for all events. Event updates come from +1 778 910 2092; sign-in codes use Twilio Verify and may come from a different sender. Code requests also record the number, time, and consent notice.

How I use it

I use your information only to sign you in and to run the event:

I do not use your number for advertising, and I do not send you texts about anything other than my events.

Message frequency and cost

Message frequency varies, but expect roughly 2 to 5 messages per event you have signed up for. Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Reply STOP to any message to stop receiving them, or HELP for help.

Who I share it with

No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All other use case categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.

I do use a couple of service providers to actually send the messages and host the site. They only process your information on my behalf, and they are not allowed to use it for their own purposes:

Other guests at an event may see your name on the guest list if the event page shows one. They never see your phone number.

I may disclose information if I am legally required to, which for a backyard barbecue I sincerely hope never happens.

How long I keep it

I keep your number and RSVP details for as long as they are useful for running my events, and I delete them when they are not. If you opt out, I keep a minimal record that your number opted out, because I am required to make sure you do not get texted again.

Your choices

Children

These event pages are not directed at children under 13, and I do not knowingly collect their information.

Changes

If I change this policy I will update the date at the top of this page.
