Events SMS Terms and Conditions
Last updated: September 7, 2026
These terms cover the text message updates I (Calvin Liang) send to guests of my personal events, such as barbecues and dinners, organized through the event pages at calvin.sh/events/. By opting in you agree to them.
What the program is
It is a notification service for people who have been invited to one of my events. Messages are things like a reminder the day before, the address and door code, a note that we are starting an hour later, or a cancellation because it is pouring rain. That is the whole program. There is no advertising and nothing is for sale.
How you opt in
On your invitation's RSVP form, check the optional box agreeing to receive texts from Calvin's Events, then press Continue to save. New accounts start with the box unchecked. Consent covers invitations and updates for all events. You can RSVP without opting in, and you can stop texts for all events by unchecking the box and saving. Event updates come from +1 778 910 2092.
Consent to receive these texts is never a condition of being invited or of coming to anything.
Sign-in codes
By requesting a code at the number you provide or confirm, you consent to receive a one-time transactional verification text from Calvin's Events. Each request sends a code through Twilio Verify. Requesting a code does not subscribe you to event updates. Standard message and data rates may apply. For help, reply HELP to the sender or email support@calvin.sh. Reply STOP to the sender to block further texts from that sender. This can prevent subsequent codes from arriving. Contact me if you cannot sign in.
Message frequency
Frequency varies with what is happening, but expect roughly 2 to 5 messages per event you are invited to.
Cost
I do not charge anything for these messages. Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile plan. Check with your carrier if you are not sure.
How to stop
Reply STOP to an event update at any time. You will get a single confirmation that you have been unsubscribed, and then no further messages. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT work the same way. You can also just tell me and I will take you off.
If you change your mind after replying STOP, reply START to unblock the sender, then opt in again on the event RSVP form. Checking the box alone cannot remove a carrier or Twilio block.
How to get help
Reply HELP to an event update for information about the program and how to contact me, or email support@calvin.sh. Event updates come from +1 778 910 2092.
Carriers and delivery
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Delivery is best effort and depends on your carrier and your device, so please do not rely on a text as your only source of truth about when and where something is happening. The event page always has the current details.
Your phone number
Only sign up with a mobile number you own or are authorized to use, and let me know if that number changes or stops being yours so I do not text someone else about my barbecue.
Privacy
Your number is used only to send you these updates. It is never sold, and it is never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. See the Events SMS Privacy Policy for the details.
Changes
I may update these terms. The current version always lives on this page, with the date it changed at the top.
